Interesting Sermon Last Sunday --- The VIP

When you hear VIP you think Very Important Person....but last Sunday's sermon was on Parenting and it took a different approach:

VIP - Very Informed Parent --- Knowledgeable, up-to-date, clued-up, nosy
Prov 18:15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge and the ears of the wise seek it out.

VIP - Very Involved Parent --- Interested, concerned, All day-every day
Deut 6:6 These commands I give to you are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

VIP- Very Intentional Parent --- deliberate, pre-meditated, on purpose
Phil 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose
Joshua 24:15b But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

VIP - Very Invested Parent --- Committed to something in order to gain a return. Remember you are raising your grandkids mom or dad.
John 15:16 You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.

Follow up:
What kind of parent do I want to be?
What is one area I need to work on to be this kind of parent?

I found this sermon to be very challenging and thought-provoking. So I decided to pass along the notes! It's easy to get caught up in all the daily stuff and forget how important our job as a parent really is.
