My 30th Birthday!

Well, somehow I just turned 30 this past weekend (4/26/08). I really can not believe that 30 years of my life have come and gone! It is unbelievable to think Jason & I have been married 10 1/2 years too. Time goes by so quickly. Things that amaze me...my baby is almost a year, my Noah is 4 1/2, that it has been 12 years since I graduated high school, that my little brother is graduating in a few weeks, etc.... I could go on and on! It just seems that time goes by at a rapid speed and we really need to enjoy everyday to its fullest.

So my birthday celebration...Jason planned it very well! He totally helped me to move past the turning 30 thing! We went away for the weekend to Denton, TX (It's only about 1 hour from here). They had a Jazz & Arts festival that I wanted to go too. So he got us a room and we stayed there for 2 nights. It's funny how just going to a hotel makes you feel like you are on vacation a million miles away from the everyday routine and stress (or at least that's how I feel). We ate out a lot, relaxed, went to the festival (lots of great musical talent - that's why I like festivals), and then there was the surprise! He had rented a pontoon boat Saturday afternoon. It was incredible. I love being on a boat on the water. It is just so peaceful and beautiful...absolutely relaxing. So that was the best! I have wanted to do that for a long time....great hubby! Oh one funny thing that happened on our trip. On my actual bday we went to a restaurant for supper. I was ordering my food except I was making up my own plate of veggies. The waitor said you could get the Senior Citizen Plate and it would come with one more veggie and a free drink. I said what??? I told him ok so it was my 30th birthday but that didn't mean I was ready for the Senior Citizen discount!!! But after laughing through it --- I did enjoy my discounted meal...great memories!

So my revelation --- I think things have gotten better with age! Jason & I have a better marriage than we did 10 years ago, I have incredible kids that are great and each day bring to our lives more joy, we've made crazy decisions and gotten through them, and seem to kind of have a clue what we are doing now! So my stand on turning 30 is that I've gotten better with age and look forward to the next 30!!!!!
