5 Days REALLY??? It seemed like SO MUCH LONGER!

Okay, so 5 days ago...

My computer died. It was on and working fine. Ethan was taking a nap so I decided to cut the grass! Really you ask? Yes!!! Not sure what came over me there. I can only think of one other time in my 11 years of marriage that I have cut the grass and this was the only time I did it without Jason there! Okay but back to the story. So here I am cutting the grass...Noah running up to every window to watch me and motion to see if I needed his help! Such a sweetie. So once I was done I came in to get a shower. I then noticed a missed call from the Realtor. So I checked my messages only to learn that she needed some document signed by both of us and sent back by 5. It was somewhere around 3 and guess what my computer would not come on!!! Argh!!!

The Realtor did get the paper around 4:57 but I won't bore you with the details of what all had to take place for that to happen!!! So ... we took the computer(that is only 2 years old) to the Geek Squad and they have determined my motherboard is gone. They were able to back up all my data for $100 (ouch!). They said it would be best for me to buy a new one instead of fixing this one! Oops!! So then I had to tell Jason that I have no idea how much money we have in our checking account because I am completely computer dependant. I use Quicken as my checkbook register, to balance, keep up with what is due, you know everything! Then I pay all my bills online too so I didn't even have addresses for some of them. I also receive most of my bills paperless. So I was all a panic!! What a mess huh?!?!

Fast forward to today...my sweet friend, Heather, is letting me borrow a laptop of theirs so at least I'm back online. Still don't have my Quicken (so not sure of my checking balance still) but at least I have everything else! "One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind." Okay so maybe it's not that big but it kind of feels like it!!!!!! :)

What a wild 5 days! One thing I did learn this week is...that without the distraction of the computer I can get more housework down, had more time to play with my kids, even sat down and painted with Noah, and actually cleaned my car! So it wasn't all bad and it did make me realize how much I need to manage my time better!!!!

  1. oh my!! I did wonder where you were! I've prayed for you to get a new computer... I would be so lost and what a good lesson for all of us... less distractions can bring such yummy stuff! Let's get together this week... we are not doing Lark anymore, but we are doing barnes & noble tomarrow... send you the details... I'm going to invite "the gang"

  3. Oh How tragic! Sometimes I wish I could do without my computer--but then I wake up!
